Second Harmonic Generation at Reflection from the Nonlinear Periodic Media

ABSTRACT

The theory of the electromagnetic wave nonlinear interaction in the semibounded periodic dielectric structure is developed on the example of the second harmonic excitation. It is supposed that one of layers forming a period has a nonlinear polarization. The analysis method represents the development of the perturbation theory based on the Green's formula (16). It is shown that the synchronism conditions for interacting waves are Bragg resonances either on separate layers or on the structure period. Moreover, it follows from the given consideration that the greatest efficiency of interaction takes place at the pass band edges for a whole period resonance.
