ABSTRACT

A laser based polarization interferometer for the wavelength of 195μm has been designed for joint operation with the multi-channel 337 μm interferometer of the "Tokamak 15" device. This permits simultaneous determination of the plasma electron density and the poloidal magnetic field induced by the plasma column current in one of the seven vertical sounding channels. The microwave section of the equipment involves a hollow dielectric beam waveguide and quasi-optic functional devices. The absence of metal antennas, replaced by open ends of the hollow dielectric beam guide has enabled a polarization resolution of the order of 0.1°.
