Interaction of Charged Particles with Surface Waves at Periodically Uneven Perfectly Conducting Boundary

ABSTRACT

The properties of surface electromagnetic waves arising at a periodically uneven perfectly conducting boundary are investigated. Losses of the energy of a charged particle crossing the boundary by the wave excitation are found. A possibility of the surface wave instability in their interaction with a flow of particles is predicted; an expression for the increment is obtained.
