Electromagnetic Properties of Multifilar Wire Helix Gratings
摘要
A theory of diffraction of a normally Incident plane electromagnetic wave by multifilar wire helix gratings is elaborated. Classes of gratings are numerically found that enable various polarization transformations of the Incident wave. Relations between geometric and electric parameters of the above gratings (wavelength, grating spacing, fillfactor, twirl angle of the helical wires) are determined. In particular, it is established that the multifilar wire helix grating can retain circular polarization of the transmitted and reflected wave while the incident wave is circularly polarized, with the handedness of the reflected and transmitted wave being the same as the incident wave handedness. At different rating parameters, the grating can also operate as a twist polarizer, as a circular polarizer, as a power splitter, and so on.
