ALGORITHM FOR UNBIASED ESTIMATION OF MICROWAVE RADIATION PARAMETERS IN A MODULATION RADIOMETER

摘要

The main purpose of this work is to solve the problem of algorithm synthesis for a microwave signal processing in a receiver with input stages which contain amplifiers with an unstable gain. The necessity of implementing the receiver input path according to a modulation scheme is justified. In this case it is possible to write two observation equations necessary for the simultaneous obtaining of two estimates − the gain instability and the microwave radiation parameter of the object under study. It is shown that the optimal signal processing procedure for the stated problem is the operation of dividing the estimates of the average powers of random processes observed on adjacent half-intervals of the modulating function in the form of a meander. The information Fisher matrix and the minimum variance of the estimates for the observed object radiation parameters and the gain instability of the receiver input stages are found. The potential sensitivity of the optimal modulation radiometer with an unstable gain is established.
