ABSTRACT

Discussed is the effect of interphase interactions on physical-mechanical properties of polymer disperse-filled composite media. It is shown that a value of the fractal dimension of the surface of filler particles greatly affects the process of formation of an adsorption (interphase) layer. The relationships that allow prediction of the parameters of interphase layers in polymer composites dispersely filled by nano-size particles, viz., a relative fraction of the polymer phase adsorbed on filler particles and a thickness of the interphase layer, are constructed within the framework of fractal description. The relationship that determine the interrelation between macromechanical characteristics of a heterogeneous medium and fractal parameters of interphase regions are suggested as well.
