Anterior Stabilization of the Shoulder by Means of an Artificial Capsular Reinforcement and Arthroscopy Part II: Results
摘要
We present the results achieved by the shoulder stabilization technique, described in Part I, through ligamentoplasty of capsular reinforcement aided by arthroscopy. It was carried out as a multicenter project on 167 patients (168 shoulders) reporting recurrence of anterior instability of a complex nature. The follow-up was between 1 and 7 years, and it showed that only 6 patients (3.57%) reported recurrence of instability. Another 6 (3.57%) presented an isolated episode of dislocation or luxation caused by trauma, but these are still free from symptoms of apprehension. From these results we conclude that this new technique broadens the perspectives of the treatment by arthroscopic surgery of anterior instability of the shoulder, especially in those cases where laxity and salvage are of the more complex kind.
