NUMERICAL STUDY OF FLUID FLOW IN A CHANNEL PARTIALLY FILLED WITH POROUS MEDIUM WITH DARCY−BRINKMAN−FORCHHEIMER EQUATION
摘要
The present study is on the numerical investigation of the fluid flow in the developed region of a parallel plate channel partially filled with a porous medium. A porous substrate is inserted in the middle of the channel. The solutions for the velocity, average velocity, and skin friction coefficient are obtained numerically using the finite difference method (Successive Accelerated Replacement, SAR, scheme). The Darcy−Brinkman−Forchheimer equation is used to describe the fluid flow in the porous region. Numerical calculations are performed for a wide range of parameters: Darcy number (10−3 ≤ Da ≤ 1.0), porous fraction (0 ≤ γp ≤ 1), and Forchheimer number (10−3 ≤ Fc ≤ 102). The effects of these parameters are considered in order to study the properties of the porous material.
