New Heat-Transfer Surfaces Made of Tubes with Rolled Petal Finning
摘要
Thermodynamic and aerodynamic characteristics of newly developed highly efficient heat-transfer surfaces are studied. The surfaces consist of bundles of aluminum tubes with transverse petal finning manufactured by a waste-free technology. It is shown that, for the flows with Reynolds numbers Red = 6·103 −6·104, the rate of convective heat transfer is 45% higher in the bundles of tubes with rolled petal finning as compared to tubes with the conventional nut-type or screw-type finnings. Such replacement of the conventional transversely finned tubes by tubes with petal finning (with all other factors being the same) is expected to allow an approximately 20% weight reduction of the corresponding heat-transfer units.
