ABSTRACT

The paper presents the results of experimental and computational investigations of heat transfer and aerodynamics during air flow in long-term fissile material depositories (FMD) and spent fuel depositories (SFD) being arranged in Russia. Simultaneously with experiments, numerical simulation of flow and heat transfer was carried out both in the depositories (under natural conditions) and on experimental models. To carry out a computational analysis, we used SINF, FLUENT, and other program complexes. The results of experimental and numerical investigations allowed us to suggest recommendations for calculating the characteristics of flow and heat transfer in the investigated elements of the depositories.
