摘要

Pulsating heat pipes are very efficient two-phase heat transfer devices, consisting of a winding capillary tube partially filled with a working fluid. The spontaneous formation/heating of vapor bubbles in the evaporator and the condensation in the condenser create the oscillating motion bubble-plug structure, which characterizes the PHP operation. The present work focuses on the relevance of IR visualization on pulsating heat pipes, particularly in the evaporating zone. Thus, a modeling approach can bring some results about what can be expected from such IR visualization on PHP. For this, a transient model has been implemented for a meniscus flowing inside a heated copper tube. Distinction is made between the vapor zone, where the inner wall is dried out, the wetting film wherein occurs the evaporation, and the liquid slug zone. Furthermore, this paper will present some results of parametric studies which could inform on the link between outer wall temperature fluctuations and those associated with the liquid film.
