Boiling Heat Transfer From Oscillating Surface

ABSTRACT

The paper describes fundamental experimental research on pool boiling heat transfer occurring during the vibration of a heating surface and the liquid in contact with it. Experiments are performed on a vibrating table (Shipbuilding Institute in Zagreb) with equipment made specifically for this purpose, and with the aim of measuring the heat transfer coefficient (a) at the boiling point. The equipment is designed to withstand all the highest stresses caused by applied vibration and thermal parameters and to provide data on advanced water pool boiling occurring at atmospheric pressure. Measurements are made by varying thermodynamic parameters such as: heat flux q = 0 − 85 · 10−4 W/m2, amplitude A = 0.1 − 2.0 · 10−3 m and frequency f = 0−70 Hz. Through data processing and analysis, we can conclude that the heat transfer coefficient increases with the value of heat flux. We can also see that with the increase of frequency and amplitude, the heat transfer coefficient increases up to 25%.
