THE GENERALIZED POISEUILLE VELOCITY PROFILE IN A STABILIZED LAMINAR FLOW OF ARGON PLASMAS

ABSTRACT

The stabilized laminar flow of low-temperature argon plasma in plasma torch channels is studied. Influences of the non-monotonous temperature dependence of the dynamic viscosity of plasmas on a velocity profile are investigated. Using the analytical solution of the of the energy balance equation, the generalized Poiseuille velocity profile of plasmas flow in electrical arces was analytically derived. It is shown that the non-monotonous variation of viscosity on the cross section of the plasmatron channel is generally the main reason for occurrence of two bend points in the plasma velocity profile. Using our developed numerical code, the numerical calculations of the flow velocity and the energy equations carried out in a wide range of working parameters of plasma torches. These calculations have confirmed conclusions received from analytical solutions of these equations.
