ABSTRACT

This paper deals with elementary models for the description of relaxation oscillation signals coming from plasma torches. One considers parametric resonance that results from the hydrodynamic instabilities of the plasma, but also dissipative and non-linear phenomena which spring up within the arc. This last model reproduces in a rather good agreement the qualitative appearance of experimental data.
