THE STABILITY OF LAMINAR BOUNDARY LAYER ONTHEPLATE UNDER ELECTROHYDRODYNAMIC ACTION

Formulated is the eigenvalue problem describing the development of small disturbances in a laminar boundary layer of unipolarly charged incompressible fluid that flows over dielectric plates. This problem takes into account the interaction between hydrodynamic and electrical disturbances. The calculations of the curves of neutral stability in different flow sections at various parameters of the problem are fulfilled. The possibility of significant enhancement of boundary layer stability is shown to be due to the increase of the longitudinal component of the main stationary flow velocity and to the absolute value of its second derivative across the boundary layer.
