INTERACTION OF A HIGH-VELOCITY FREE MOLECULAR GAS FLOW WITH STREAMLINE SURFACES

ABSTRACT

The results of experimental research on the interaction of high-velocity free molecular beams of helium, neon, argon, and nitrogen with solid body surfaces are reported. The experiments were carried out in the vacuum aerodynamic facility VAT-103 at TsAGI. The study focuses on the analysis of atomic and molecular beams reflected from the surface. The tendencies of the variations of molecule momentum in the reflected flow against the molecule type, surface materials, velocity of the gas beams, and angle of incidence are obtained.
