INVESTIGATIONS OF VOLUME-CENTERED DISCHARGE IN AIR SUPERSONIC FLOW WHEN PROPANE IS ADDITIONALLY INJECTED IN THE DISCHARGE CATHODE REGION
摘要
The flow induced in the vicinity of a cathode when using a non-equilibrium volume-centered discharge and injections of propane jets from the anode and cathode into the supersonic air flow is investigated by emission spectroscopy and schlieren methods. The experiments were carried out at M = 2, static pressure values ~ 2.9 × 104 Pa (217 torr) and 5.33 × 104 Pa (400 torr), and at a discharge current of 1 A. Data have been obtained on the composition and spatial distribution of the reaction products, which appeared in the transformation process of the air–fuel mixture in the vicinity of the cathode in the resulting flow. In particular, data on the CN, OH, and C2 emission intensity distributions and for monatomic hydrogen and oxygen are presented. The performed investigations allowed a positive answer to the question about the possibility of expanding the region where plasma–chemical reactions take place in the case of additional fuel injection through the cathode of a given system. The amplification values of the effects for several components generated during the plasma–chemical reactions have been determined. The peculiarities of the influence of the discharge on the cathode in the investigated variant of the module were revealed.
