摘要

This article deals with the interaction of twin inclined jets with an oncoming cross-flow. This configuration is widely present in industrial applications and depends on several parameters, such as the jets' height, the jet nozzles' spacing, the shape of the jet nozzles’ exit section, the velocity ratio and the temperature gradient. The gradient between the jets and the cross-flow temperatures is precisely the parameter we intend to handle in the present work, given its great environmental impact and as a response to technical constraints. The evaluation of this parameter is carried out numerically on the temperature distribution through the resolution of the Navier-Stokes equations by means of the finite volume method, the Reynolds Stress Model (RSM) second order turbulent model, and a non-uniform grid system. An experimental study is also carried and the corresponding data are depicted by means of the particle image velocimetry (PIV) technique and confronted to the numerical results, which gave good agreement. Such an evaluation gives insight about the cooling and heating processes resulting from the jets' interaction with the oncoming cross-flow. A good understanding of this process is likely to offer viable solutions to problems raised by this configuration such as the acid rain engendered by hot fumes or the deterioration of the combustors' walls by high-temperature jets.
