Changes in mRNA and Protein Expression of Antioxidant Enzymes in Leukocytes of Children with Bronchial Asthma after Interval Hypoxic Training

The impact of a 10-day-long interval hypoxic training (IHT) on the level of mRNA expression and protein content of the antioxidant enzymes (superoxide dismutase, catalase, and glutathione-S-transferase) in the leukocytes of the children suffering from bronchial asthma was studied. It has been found that IHT induced a decrease in mRNA expression of superoxide dismutase by 32.5% (P < 0.05), whereas protein content remained unchanged. The level of catalase gene mRNA and protein content in the leukocytes increased by 67% and 13%, respectively. An increase in protein amount of glutathione-S-transferase by 90% (P < 0.05) has been shown compared with this before training.
