摘要

A large-scale feature of the galactic background radiation, being the North Polar Spur, can be a jet of our galaxy probably enveloped by an extended cocoon of about the galactic disk diameter. The jet key parameters, such as magnetic field strength, spectral index, radio luminosity, propagation velocity, are estimated close to the corresponding values for jets of weak radio galaxies. As distinct from the popular supernova remnant hypothesis, the latitudinal dependence of intensity, magnetic field structure and spectral index distribution for the North Polar Spur can be explained within the jet hypothesis.
