A New Description of Fischerella Ambigua (Näg.) Gom. − a Multidisciplinary Approach
摘要
The taxonomical characterization of the cyanoprokaryota Fischerella ambigua (Näg.) Gom., collected from paddy-fields in northern Iran, has been investigated in a multidisciplinary way. Besides morphology, the ecophysiological studies included survival, growth, and pigment composition under different conditions of salinity, temperature, and light intensities, and molecular investigations included 16S rRNA gene sequences of the cyanoprokaryota were considered. The results indicate the drastic underestimation of the physiological and phylogenetic diversity of these cyanoprokaryota by the current morphology-based classification, which present a clearneedfornew taxa.
