Measurement of Turbulent Flow past a Rectangular Cylinder confined in Channel by Stereo-PIV
摘要
This paper describes the turbulent near wake structure of the rectangular cylinder in channel flow by using a stereoscopic PIV. Experimental data were analyzed in terms of the triple decomposition and the phase-averaged velocity statistics were discussed in relation to the heat transfer enhancement in this flow configuration. It is found that the large-scale counter-rotating vortices shed from the cylinder induce the wall ward flow and retain almost unchanged as they are convected downstream, while the turbulent intensities decay definitely. It is, therefore, concluded that the periodic and alternating rollup of the shed vortices contributes significantly to the extensive enhancement of heat transfer at the channel wall.
