Abstract

The turbulent submerged jet flow in a slot channel is experimentally studied using PIV. Two main scales of coherent vortices are observed in a slot jet shear layer. High order statistical moments, spatial derivative characteristics and spatial spectra are calculated using advanced PIV post-processing algorithms. On the basis of obtained data all the terms of mean momentum transport equation and terms of turbulent kinetic energy equation are estimated. The influence of the low-amplitude external perturbations of inlet velocity on the jet flow structure is investigated.
