摘要

In this paper a computational model is proposed to describe the thermocapillary convection observed during the evaporation of volatile liquids in capillary tubes. The computational model is based on Navier Stokes and energy conservation equations and a finite volume numerical approximation. The model takes into account the shaped liquid/vapour (L/V) interface via coordinates transformation.
The direct simulations allow the access to the stream function and the temperature distribution in the melt and to the temperature profile on the L/V interface and to describe the interaction between the external heating and the transfers in the liquid phase. The results show the enhancement in heat and mass transfer due to the thermocapillary convection. The interfacial temperature profile is investigated to reveal that the magnitude and the location of the minimum in temperature can significantly alter the observed enhancement as well as the convective patterns.
