ABSTRAKT

The problem related to the choice of the optimal geometrical and physical parameters of dielectrics under test by using the microwave resonator for correct measurements of the dielectric constants of these dielectrics in the frequency band is considered. Numerical modeling and experimental investigations of a rectangular X-band resonator with the axially symmetric inhomogeneity are carried out on the example of the Teflon cylinder. The results are discussed within the framework of the proposed and justified criteria based on an analysis of the resonant frequency shift, quality factor and EM field distribution of the resonator depending on the sample position in the resonance volume. It is shown that in the case of using the optimal dimensions of the sample, the error in determining the dielectric permittivity does not exceed 0.9%.
