DEVELOPMENT OF COMPACT MEDIUM POWER SOURCES OF ELECTROMAGNETIC RADIATION OF MILLIMETER AND SUBMILLIMETER WAVE RANGES
ABSTRAKT
Compact sources of electromagnetic radiation of the short part of both millimeter and submillimeter wave ranges are widely applied in spectroscopy. Most powerful devices in these bands are vacuum electron tubes. The further upgrading frequency output power and frequency tuning in wide range still remain a priority task. This paper is devoted to the research and development of compact klynotrons in sub-millimeter range, considering the numerical results as for the possible output power gain achieved through an interaction of intense electron beam with hybrid space-surface modes of inhomogeneous slow-wave systems (SWS). The second part of the paper is dedicated to the experimental results of low-voltage operation modes of cyclotron resonance masers (CRM). The range of issues covered in this paper also includes the generation of ribbon helical electron beam for planar CRM, capable of a smooth wide-range frequency tuning regulated by the mirror spacings, like in diffraction radiation oscillators.
