COMPACT FRACTAL WEARABLE ANTENNA FOR WIRELESS BODY AREA COMMUNICATIONS

ABSTRAKT

This paper aimed at proposing a fractal antenna for multiband characteristics for wearable electronic applications. The design of a squat shape, the compact fractal antenna with conformal characteristics is needful for fulfilling the requirements of 5th generation wireless wearable and bendable devices applications. The antenna is conformal to the human body and is intended for wearable body area applications and operates between 2 to 5 GHz. The antenna design incorporates miniaturization techniques of Sierpinski fractal geometry. The electrical parameters of antennas that are located on the human body will be studied. The performance of an antenna is also insensitive to the human body. The wearable antenna will be designed, analyzed using CST Microwave studio in 3D electromagnetic (EM) field simulation software. The designed antenna will be fabricated and characterized on a wearable substrate for wireless body area communications. The simulated and observed outcomes are found to be in good agreement with expected results.
