Biology and Ecology of Holopedium gibberum (Branchiopoda: Cladocera: Ctenopoda) in the Palearctic

ABSTRAKT

The publication is dealt with the study of biology of Holopedium gibberum belonging to plankton Crustacea and widely distributed in water bodies of the boreal zone. It has been found that near the northern and southern borders of the area of its distribution H. gibberum is characterized by shorter life cycle, which is conditioned by temperature regime. The vertical distribution of its population in a water body is determined by a depth of the thermocline, whereas its horizontal distribution by the degree of similarity of the conditions of its occurrence in various parts of the water body and in the pelagic zone.
