The Role of Biota in Release of Nutrients from Bottom Sediments into Water (Review)

ABSTRAKT

The article presents a review of methods and main results of investigations on the influence of biota on the early diagenesis of deposits, as well as onnutrient exchange between bottom sediments and the water column. Mechanisms and factors determining the exchange rate are discussed. The effect of biotic factor is of great importance, especially in littoral zones and shallow lakes.
