Water Boiling at Tubular Surfaces Formed by Cavities

ABSTRAKT

The use of shallow cavities (with depth to diameter ratio near 0.1) on hori-zontal cylindrical surfaces under pool boiling conditions leads to an increase of the heat flux, which is more than surface augmentation caused by cavity relief formation. The increase of the average heat transfer coefficient reaches 100% in the investigated range.
