Influence of Metallic Surfaces and their Treatment on the Formation of Nucleation Centers

ABSTRAKT

To study the influence of metallic surfaces and their treatment on the formation of nucleation centres in an overheated liquid improved experimental methods have been developed. New experimental results on start of boiling of overheated liquid on a metallic surface including the pressure drop have been obtained. These results take into account the conditions of nonstationary exoelectron emission activity of the samples surface that is degassed after mechanical treatment in liquid. The undertaken experiments allow us to draw a conclusion that the probability of nucleation in the absence of heat flow from the sample to the liquid, depends on the sample material and the way it was treated. We have also found that nonstationary emission activity of the surface manifest itself in increasing the waiting time of boiling.
