Stability of an Interface in a Liquid-Vapor System

ABSTRAKT

The paper describes an experimental setup and experimental methods for the investigation of stability of an interface in a liquid-vapor system. The interface is represented by the surface of a bubble formed in the volume of a locally superheated liquid. The boundary of a transition from a stable state of the evaporation surface to an unstable state has been determined on the basis of the Landau instability mechanism. A satisfactory agreement between the theory and experimental data is observed.
