UNSTEADY THERMOVISCOUS FLOW IN A POROUS SLAB OVER AN OSCILLATING FLAT PLATE

ABSTRAKT

The problem of an unsteady flow of a thermoviscous incompressible fluid through a porous medium in a semi-infinite region over an oscillating impermeable bottom is studied in this paper. Analytical expressions for the velocity and temperature distributions have been obtained with appropriate boundary conditions. The shear stress, heat transfer coefficient, and external body forces have been calculated analytically. We also present numerical solutions for the velocity and temperature of thermoviscous fluid flow using the Runge-Kutta method of the sixth order with shooting methods with the help of Mathematica software ND solver. The numerical results obtained are compared with the analytical results of the present study and are found to be in excellent agreement. The influence of Darcy's porosity parameter, time parameter, and Prandtl number on the flow field have been discussed with the help of illustrations. It is worth mentioning that the velocity profiles are shifted at a faster rate due to the increase in Darcy friction offered by the medium to the flow.
