ABSTRAKT

High temperature measurements and calibration are extremely complicated, requiring new techniques and implements to remove the barriers. Heat pipe as an advanced heat transport device could satisfy this need, and is demonstrated to have good temperature uniformity in its inner chamber. In this paper, a new method for accurate temperature measurement of heat pipes, called as Feedback of Pressure to Temperature (FPT), is presented. To verify the feasibility of the method and reduce the realization difficulties, an experiment of a copper heat pipe with water as a working fluid in an intermediate temperature area is conducted. The detailed design of the experiment is introduced and the test results are discussed. The results show that the gauged pressure in the vapor line and liquid line at a large distance from the heat pipe corresponds to the saturated pressure in the heat pipe and there is a direct relationship of the single-value function between the saturated pressure and temperature in the heat pipe. So if the pressure in the lateral line is desired, the working temperature of the heat pipe will be determined, proving the FPT method to be absolutely practicable.
