ABSTRAKT

Short exposure photographic technique was applied to visualize the instabilities that characterize the transition process from laminar to turbulent of a free liquid jet. The Rayleigh instability was visualized in the low Reynolds number flow. In the cases characterized by higher Reynolds numbers, more complex and three-dimensional instabilities were also captured. The method used can be very useful to visualize high-frequency instabilities in liquid flows.
