PLASMA TREATMENT OF RUBBER WASTE
ABSTRAKT
This work was aimed at developing a method for rubber waste disposal using plasma pyrolysis and at optimizing the disposal processing in terms of rubber disposal efficiency and usefulness of the solid and gaseous end - products. The experimental set - up consisted of DC arc plasmatron, a plasma reactor and fluidized bed of rubber powder and its ending in the reactor. Ar or a mixture of Ar + H2 (up to 5.9 % H2) were used as the plasmatron operating gases. Samples of the outlet gas were analyzed by the absorption spectroscopy method. It was found that 6.83 kg/h of the rubber powder could be pyrolyzed per hour. There were carbon black and several metals in the solid end - products of the rubber pyrolysis in Ar plasma. CH4, C2H2, CO and CO2 and two unknown compounds (called "alfa") were gaseous end - products when the rubber was pyrolyzed in Ar + H2 plasma. The energy cost was the lowest (3.94 kWh/kg) when processing the rubber powder in Ar + H2 plasma.
