ABSTRAKT

An application of the Langtry-Menter turbulence model for an analysis of a laminar-turbulent transition on a surface of a straight wing installed in a low turbulence level wind tunnel T-124 is researched in the present paper. A comparison of the computational fluid dynamics results and the experimental data has shown that the applied model is capable of determining with satisfactory accuracy the region of the laminar-turbulent transition for various values of initial turbulence levels, which have been varied in experimental research by means of the grid. The influence of the wind tunnel walls on the pressure distribution and the position of the laminar-turbulent transition region are also shown in the paper.
