CONVECTIVE HEAT AND MASS TRANSFER IN ELECTRICALLY CONDUCTING FLOW PAST A VERTICAL PLATE EMBEDDED IN A POROUS MEDIUM IN THE PRESENCE OF THERMAL RADIATION AND THERMO DIFFUSION

In this study, a numerical analysis is carried out to study heat and mass transfer in electrically conducting flow past
a vertical plate embedded in a porous medium in the presence of thermal radiation and thermodiffusion. The coupled nonlinear partial differential equations corresponding to the momentum, energy, and concentration equations are
transformed into a system of coupled nonlinear ordinary differential equations by the similarity transformation method and then solved via the Galerkin weighted residual method (GWRM). The effects of the thermal Grashof number,
porosity parameter, Prandtl number, and other parameters encountered in the course of the investigation are discussed
graphically and numerically. The results show that positive values of the thermal Grashof number and solutal Grashof
number, respectively, correspond to greater surface cooling and indicate that the concentration at the plate surface is
higher than the free stream concentration. The need for cooling of surfaces such as with nuclear reactors is mostly
encountered in engineering and industry.
