DEVELOPMENT AND APPLICATION OF A MICROCHANNEL HEAT EXCHANGER FOR THE HEAT PUMP
ABSTRAKT
In this study, microchannel heat exchangers are applied for residential heat pump air-conditioning systems. The performance of the heat pump system with microchannel heat exchangers is compared with that of the baseline heat pump system using tube-and-fin heat exchangers. It is shown that for the residential heat pump air-conditioning system, the system capacity can increase by 4% by using microchannel heat exchangers, and the system efficiency can increase by 1–2%, keeping the face area of the heat exchangers the same. The weight of heat exchangers can be reduced by 44% and the refrigerant charge can be reduced by 51%.
