ABSTRAKT

The effects of treating pregnant Wistar rats with di-n-butyl phthalate (DBP) on the androgen function, as well as male and female sexual behaviour of male offspring of the first generation were investigated. DBP was administered intragastrically through the gavage at a daily dose of 100 mg/kg during the period from the 15th to the 21st day of pregnancy. Male sexual behaviour was evaluated at the age of 6 and 10 months from preceptive responses in the presence of a receptive female, the duration of latent and refractory periods, and the number of mountings, intromissions, and ejaculations. The lordotic reactions were studied in castrated and activated with oestradiol and progesterone males in the presence of normal males. The findings indicate acceleration of puberty, a significant increase in males' and females' sexual behavior against the background of significantly high levels of testosterone in the blood plasma. Possible mechanisms of functional changes in the reproductive system are discussed.
