Modulation of Rat Myometrium Contractile Activity by Peptidocycan of Staphfylococcus Aureus Cell Wall

ABSTRAKT

An impact of Peptidoclycan of Staphylococcus aureus cell wall on the contractile activity of the myometrium from estrogen-treated and pseudopragnant rats was studied. The results of experiments have shown that the rat myometrium sensitivity to peptidoglycan depends on the hormonal background. Peptidoglycan modifies the myometrium contractile activity of both estrogen-treated and pseudopragnant rats. In estrogen-treated rat myometrium, peptidoglycan reduces frequency and duration of the contractions (it elongates the uterine cycle), while in the pseudopregnant rat myometrium, it increases the amplitude, duration, and the frequency (reducing the uterine cycle). We have revealed that peptidoglycan has stronger uterotonic effect compared to that of prostaglandin F2α (10 μmol/l). Based on this fact, we have concluded that peptidoglycan-induced changes in the myometral contractile activity may have negative impact on fertility and the course of pregnancy.
