ABSTRAKT

The appearance of sporadic (transient) radiation, i.e. bursts and pulses of characteristic durations of a few hours to a few seconds or less, provides evidence for the existence of compact size sources, or regions of explosive or vividly dynamic events. Therefore, observations of transient radio emissions permit studying the internal structure and very nature of a variety of celestial objects, with the fundamental astrophysical aspects included. The effects of wave scattering and Faraday rotation of their polarization plane provide data on properties of the medium the radio emission has propagated through.
The world-largest UTR-2 decameter waveband radio telescope, combined with front line receiving / data collecting equipment, permits studying the pulsed and sporadic radio emissions from a great variety of galactic and extragalactic sources. The essential advantages of the UTR-2 are its high sensitivity and broad reception band (reaching two octaves) which enable measuring spectral parameters of the radiation in the decameter waveband. Analysis of the distinctive features pertaining to radio emissions from sources of both known and supposed varieties (including various kinds of stars, extrasolar planets and different objects in the Solar system) is a prerequisite for composing the complete Northern Sky Survey (currently under preparation), aimed at identifying decameter wave pulsars and transient sources. An equally important task would be to establish the limitations associated with the present day means of observations - in order to be able setting the goals and establishing the lines of development for the new generation of radio telescopes, - such as the Giant Ukrainian Radio Telescope (GURT) or the LOFAR system.
