ABSTRAKT

Boiling of immiscible mixtures is studied to realize high-performance cooling systems which satisfy the requirements for the increase in the heat generation density of semiconductors. Because immiscible mixtures are not employed as cooling mediums in the existing systems, fundamental heat transfer characteristics in pool boiling are summarized based on the experiments performed so far by the present authors, and their possibility for application to flow boiling is studied experimentally. The flow patterns composed of two immiscible liquids with different densities and surface tensions show complicated behaviors, even under unheated conditions. By evaluation of the temperature transition in the bulk flow during the evaporation of two component liquids, the heat transfer performance is discussed for immiscible mixtures with different compositions.
