RUTHENIUM NANOPARTICLES STABILIZED ON NANO MAGNESIUM OXIDE IN THE PRESENCE OF IONIC LIQUIDS: A HIGHLY ACTIVE AND EFFICIENT ELECTROCATALYST FOR HYDROGEN EVOLUTION REACTION
ABSTRAKT
Highly active ruthenium nanoparticles (Ru NPs) supported on nano magnesium oxide were synthesized to investigate the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) in the presence of a weak electrolyte (CH3 COOH). The exchange current density for hydrogen evolution is –10 mA·cm-2 at an overpotential of 84 mV. Furthermore, Ru NPs in 0.5 M CH3 COOH yield a Tafel slope of 21 mV/dec, in contrast with the 15 mV/dec observed for Pt catalysts.
