ABSTRAKT

Species composition and quantitative indices of phytoplankton in the Amur Bay of the Sea of Japan near Vladivostok were studied from May 1999 until April 2000. A total of 68 species of microalgae was found. Seasonal dynamics of the density of phytoplankton were characterized by the presence of four peaks. The total density of phytoplankton ranged from 3 thousand to 2 million cells/L whereas its biomass varied from 0.09 to 23 g/m3. Seasonal complexes of microalgae were distinguished and described, hi spring and summer, the Shannon index of species diversity decreased. The list of dominant species of phytoplankton was supplemented by Guinardia delicatula (Bacillariophyta), Chattonella globosa (Raphidophyta), and also with Chlamydomonas sp. and Pyramimonas sp. (Chlorophyta). Both original and literature data suggest that the intensity of the autumn peak of development of microalgae decreased. In this case, Bacillariophyta gave way to representatives of other algae divisions.
