Analysis of the Charales Flora of Ukraine
ABSTRAKT
The systematic, ecological and geographic analysis of the Charales flora of Ukraine represented by 40 species belonging to Chara L. (24 species, 5 varieties), Nitella Agardh emend. A. Braun (9 species), Tolypella (A. Braun) A. Braun (4 species) and Lamprothamnium papulosum (Wallr.) J. Groves, Lychnothamnus barbatus (Meyen) Leonh., Nitellopsis obtusa (Desv. in Loisel.) J. Groves was carried out. Zonal differentiation of the genera and species distribution were established. The ratio between species of Chara and Nitella determined in four physiographic zones and other natural regions of Ukraine appeared to be different depending on the territory under study. Also, a complex of the most frequent (common) species was specific for every zone and region. Chara globularis Thuill., and Nitella flexelis (L.) C. Agardh were common in Ukrainian Polissia; Chara vulgaris L., C. globularis, and C. virgata Kutz. − in broad-leaved forest; C. vulgaris, C. globularis, and Nitella mucronata (A. Braun) Miq. in H.C. Hall − in forest-steppe; C. canescens Desv. et Loisel. In Loisel., C. hispida L., C. vulgaris, and Nitellopsis obtuse − in steppe; C. intermedia A. Braun and L. papulosum − in the water area of the Azov and Black seas, etc. The significance of impact of the ecological and anthropogenic factors on species diversity and zonal species distribution was shown. The geographic analysis of the Charales flora of Ukraine was conducted on the basis of a zonal-region approach using the geographic elements system developed for non-vascular plants. The results indicated its boreal-nemoral nature.
