Distinctively different average diameters of droplets can be obtained from a given liquid from the same atomizer which is excited at different discrete resonant frequencies. The small discrete bands of resonant frequency are separated by finite bands of frequency in which the atomization ceases. Alcohol-water mixtures of various proportions are used for the test fluids. At the same exciting frequency the atomizer produces smaller droplets for fluids with smaller surface tension. The external excitation is achieved by use of a piezo-electric ceramic material. For the same liquid, the atomizer can produce different size of droplets ranging from 5 to 50 micrometer by use of different forcing frequencies ranging from 20 to 200 kHz. Thus the atomizer is capable of rendering tailored atomization. PB Begell House LK https://www.dl.begellhouse.com/journals/6a7c7e10642258cc,5193c11a6e3c4643,4130a28c29d40003.html
