The combustion and injection characteristics of a 186 FA diesel engine were analyzed in blends with different proportions of bio-diesel at both full and 50% load through a combination of numerical simulation and experimental study. The heat release rates and the main parameters of cyclic variations were compared and analyzed. The development of fuel concentration and temperature field as well as the injection characteristics were simulated. It is shown that, with a blended bio-diesel, the values of indicated mean effective pressure, cylinder peak pressure, and other parameters of the combustion cycle variability were decreased, whereas the spray penetration distance and combustion duration had an increasing trend. %8 2016-02-02
