Each of these metals causes an increasing metal content in the digestive gland and gills; the contents of zinc and copper in the metallothioneins rise. The content of metallothioneins in the tissues also increases. Under the influence of zinc and manganese ions, the content of copper in the tissues and activation of the prooxidant processes decrease. UV-spectra of metallothioneins loose their characteristic features. The copper ions and the copper-containing mixture lead to increased contents of this metal in tissues, the rise of antioxidant defense, and to an increase in modifications of metallothioneins revealed by their studying in UV. %8 2004-11-04
