T1 PROPERTIES OF WATER DROPLETS PRODUCED BY EHD PULVERISATION FOR THE COLLECTION OF PARTICULATE PLASMAS BY-PRODUCTS JF High Temperature Material Processes: An International Quarterly of High-Technology Plasma Processes JO HTM YR 2001 FD 2001-09-01 VO 5 IS 3 OP 20 AB In order to develop a filtration device for sub-micron particles, we need to produce electrically charged water droplets which role is to collect negative sub-micron pollutant particles by electric coagulation. The droplets are produced by Electro-HydroDynamic Pulverisation (EHDP) in the cone-jet-glow mode, in air, at atmospheric pressure.
In this article, scaling laws are given to define the droplets properties (droplets diameter, spray current and droplets charge-to-mass ratio) produced in cone-jet-glow mode, in air at atmospheric pressure, according to experimental parameters as in the cone-jet mode, but according also to the glow current, which controls the electric field on the liquid surface. Erom the scaling laws and from the experimental parameters (liquid and gas flow rate, and voltage), the collector properties are calculated in order to scale the reactor and to define the optimal conditions of electric coagulation.
